Sleigh Bells Ring… But Christmas Is Becoming Extinct

Driving through my town last week ( that would be somewhere in the late November vicinity) when I happened to pass by a large home that was….ugh .. being decorated for Christmas. The fact that the Christmas season starts earlier and earlier is increasingly troubling for me and detracts from whatever spirit I am able to muster . If it weren’t for my kids I would have none. Why this insistence on rushing it in happens is very clear to me and I will address that in a minute. Anyway, this house is being decorated and I realize as I pass that not only is it being decorated far too early but the people decorating the house are…. landscapers..Thats right!!!! Landscapers are putting up this families lights , wreaths and snowmen. The family is ummm lets guess .. Busy?? Shopping? Partying? Fighting? Regardless,why on earth would you want to celebrate a holiday in which a month before you have to pay someone to put up your sentimental decorations? I find this to be a very curious phenomenon. Christmas has become for many people an obligation to keep up with the idea that they need to fit in. When their home is done being decorated all the people in town will see that they have a nicely decorated home but inside, where the heart is, there can be no true spirit of the holiday. I wonder if the landscapers hum Christmas songs as they decorate or if they shake their heads and curse to themselves about the ignorance of people. It appears to me that any last vestige of the spirit of christmas has been devoured by the media and retailers. Hurry everyone its Black Friday! The economy is dead and you need to save money.. Go go go!! Christmas music is now being pumped monotonously in every store imploring each person to get busy and spend . The music which was once festive now seems more like a poisonous gas that seeps through florescent retailers jungles catching unsuspecting patrons and forcing them to buy buy buy. People describe Christmas as a time of great stress. The absurdity of what Christmas has become is a very sad commentary on how we choose to live our lives. It is at its simplest a celebration of the birth of Christ. How it has become to be a source of panic for shoppers is a grotesque deviation of what it should be. Wouldnt it be such a welcome relief if we could all just make a concerted effort to turn all the noise down. Simplify! Dont listen to the television screaming at you to buy .. Dont pay attention to the lovely Christmas decorations in Nordstroms window on October. Dont hire strangers to decorate your house. Do what comes naturally from your heart and if you are Christian celebrate the birth of Christ. I hope that someone out there will hear me and try ..I certainly will.

Adam Lambert /AMA Awards – dangerous message for our children

A few years ago I recall there was a WNBA game at Madison Square Garden during which lesbians staged a “kiss in” for whatever reason they thought they had to. My guess is the motivation was pure attention seeking and a need to be seen but who knows. I remember feeling very strongly that not only was it inappropriate because most obviously people brought their children to the games, but also because we as adults should have the right to enjoy ourselves on our free time without having some sexual political agenda being forced down our throats while we are there. If I want to support gay rights I will go to a meeting where it is presented not to Disney World ,professional sporting events or anything else that falls under the umbrella of leisurely activity for me and my family. The awful behavior by Adam Lambert,some American Idol singer on ABC’s AMA award show last night, struck me in exactly the same way. It was grossly self indulgent and highly inappropriate . Those of us with cynical minds may sneer and say thats what made it great , that it said screw all convention and was a charged performance. (I have mistakenly always assumed performances required talent.)Once again I will answer .. Why should my leisure family time be infested with some person’s obssesive need to be seen in a vulgar way or by some hidden agenda by a pseudo political group? Why are the needs of some perverted ,greedy individual or the agenda of a gay rights group and the money it can possibly generate more important than the rights of our children and the decency and respect we as adults should be offered on our free time? Adults have the right to choose if they want to be involved in some political cause or go to a racy sex show . That is what makes our country great. However ,it becomes distinctly wrong when an adults choose to do something like go to a sporting event and it is shoved down their throats. Or possibly their 10 year old daughter has a passion for music and a parent chooses to put on the AMA awards ( network tv: ABC) so she can see professionals perform and is victimized by the egocentric ,money motivated, self indulgent antics of some gay singer. Will this all end when we finally have achieved full dissolution of the family in this country? Furthermore if you are someone who still believes in family and has certain values where do you turn?? I can tell you this with certainty…What we are allowing and choosing as a society is tremedously compromising to the fabric and integrity of the family in America. Our children are learning that that the expression of an individual even if it is sexual ,violent and evil and the need to make money are more important than their own self worth.

Rep Pat Kennedy vs the Catholic church

Rep. Pat Kennedy (groan… will this legacy ever end???) has announced to the media that he is not allowed to take communion at his church because of his views on abortion. I was initially surprised to discover that he even was a Catholic at all considering almost every Kennedy has violated every tenet of Catholicism. Lets see.. There is murder, rape, adultery, abuse of alcohol and drugs and women ,etc.. Sorry I digress..Where was I ?. Abortion..Lets wrap this one up quickly… If you have firm beliefs about something and you want to join an organization but that organization doesnt allow one of your beliefs then…DONT JOIN THAT ORGANIZATION!!!! If you want to be a Catholic then dont rape ,murder , abort, drink to excess and ogle women.. Or do all of those things and find a different religion. Also if you really want to find a way to gather popularity and votes Patty then try coming up with some original ideas to help our ailing world rather then running to the media with your personal problems in the hopes that you can be seen and also gather votes from both Catholics and liberals. You, like the long line of men in your legacy , want to have your cake and eat it too .Another mediocre politician panhandling for popularity and votes.. How very dull.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed -civilian trial in New York City

Attorney General Eric Holder announced that 9 11 mass murderer Khalid Shaikh Mohammed will not be tried before a military tribune but instead will face a civilian trial in New York City just a few blocks from where he ended the lives of thousands innocent Americans. This decision is not a good one for many reasons. Firstly , there is a precedent that proved the reasoning for a civilian trial is faulty. In July of 2001 2 terrorists were tired in N Y City for blowing up U. S. embassies in Africa. The verdict spared the murderers from execution . The reason for the verdict according to the jury was that they feared that a harsh response might trigger terrorist activity so they opted for a more lenient punishment. 3 months later 3000 innocent Americans died in the WTC attack. Prosecutors have stated after Holder’s decision that the chances for the death penalty in a civilian trial are slim at best. The decision was probably an attempt to appease left wingers who oppose military tribunals and would love nothing better than to have every detail of Gitmo exposed to the media. I suppose for left wingers it is a great way to put our military on trial as well.The hearing itself could become a soapbox for Mohammed to finally stand on .He doesnt deserve it .We dont care about him enough to hear it. Most people I know who were deeply affected by 9 11 want nothing other than to forget it and get on with their lives.Dragging this murderer into NY forces everyone to relive that awful day. Also, it possibly exposes the people of the N Y City area to another terrorist attack..Havent we had enough??? Additionally , there will be high costs for maintaining civilian safety and security.So we are trapped by a liberal decision to allow a civilian hearing in NY City. No upside people …Only downside.

Major Nidal Malik Hasan -Terroist and Murderer

The liberal press has already begun their spin of a ghastly terrorist attack on innocent American citizens at Ft. Hood by generalizing about stress and how it manifests itself in the military. Even though murderer Hasan showed constant signs of being fully capable and willing to carry out violent attacks against Americans those signs were ignored. Anwar al-Awlaki the radical Muslim cleric ,commonly linked with individuals who subsequently committed terrorist acts ,with whom Hasan had frequent contact has emphatically denied any involvement with the attack and insisted he had no influence on Hasan but recently blogged on his website that the rampage was the act of a hero. The moment it was announced that Hasan was alive attorney John Galligan magnaminously stood up and announced that he would protect Hasan’s rights. The day after the attack the New York Slimes (sorry) Times ran numerous op eds about psycho soldiers going on rampages because of military stress. Thus implying that not only was this undoubtedly not a terrorist attack but also that the military is responsible for turning men into killers. The Los Angeles Times also centered on mental illness in the military choosing to favor spin over reality. A radical muslim exhibits constant signs of radical extremism throughout his life , has contacts with terrorist muslim clerks with whom he admits that he is in direct conflict with Americans, enters the hospital center bows his head in prayer and shouts “God is the greatest ‘ in Arabic and kills 13 innocent people and wounds 29.. And somehow , incredulously, we are supposed to accept the medias claim that the military causes stress. I am sure the animals that flew planes into the World Trade Center were also under stress as are the many murderers who strap bombs to their backs to further their cause. It is most certainly time for those of us who believe in America and what our great country stands for to no longer accept the anti American spin that the media hands us. This man and all like him must be held accountable for their actions. Excuses lead to more innocent deaths.
